Woke up this morning (3.30) to the smell of burning plastic...immediate thought: I forgot to turn off the laminator. Next thought: I packed away the laminator and the smell is just that lingering and toxic...needless to say, there was no more sleep.
Turns out the circuit board on the furnace blew and we were olfactory witnesses to its demise. Thank God it wasn't -45 outside, but bbbrrrr because it was 15 inside ( I prefer a pleasant 23).
Writing still has me in a choke hold, but on the very bright side, The Genie's Curse has gone to final galleys. One task done...3 to go (Cowgirl, a Free Read (a challenge to write a story in 8 pages of less. You know me, I'm not a woman of few words. This is proving to be a learning experience in much the same way that a root canal is a learning experience), and a cozy mystery (which, short of chapter 1 and the climax, I remain completely stymied by).
I continue to try my hardest (read: eat mounds of chocolate, cookies, drink oceans of tea and weep copiously)....I once told myself that when I was multi-published, I wouldn't sweat the writing or the editing b/c being multi-published, I would know this wasn't a passing chance or a fluke...once again, I've underestimated my neurosis...
Luckily, Easter has just ended and with it, begins the chocolate sales. I'm now well covered by brightly colored tin foil, warmed by all things Cadbury and Laura Secord, and on the cusp of breakthrough (or diabetic coma, I'm not sure yet...)....

Remember to take a break tonight between 8 and 9pm - or do you intend to write by candlelight?
Ha! Candlelight--Eva, you know I'm not allowed anywhere NEAR open flames on account of my tendency to set things on fire.
Nope, I took the hour (well, the entire night) off...
